Taulman3D has now released its line of low-temperature, high-strength industrial t-glase filaments into the desktop 3D printing community. T-glase, which is short for tough glass, is a high-strength industrial 3D printer filament specially designed for users who print with PLA or lower-temperature desktop 3D printers.

Characteristics
  • Taulman T-Glase is made in the USA
  • Very high resistance
  • The optimal printing temperature is between approximately 235°C and 240°C, but will print up to 230°C and up to approximately 248°C

Taulman t-glase is derived from the strongest PETT polymer combination available on the market. Since t-glase is part of the Taulman3D family, you can be sure that t-glase is a durable material! Where Taulmans 618 and 645 nylons are quite flexible, T-Glase is still a fairly stiff material. When it comes to stiffness/flexibility, t-glase is more comparable to ABS and PLA, rather than Taulmans 618 and 645 nylon filaments. Taulman t-glase filament is available in a clear color, as clear is the natural color for this type of polymer. Summing up the above characteristics, it is concluded that Taulmans T-Glase filament is a very transparent and resistant material and also quite light.

Like PLA filament, t-glase is printed at lower temperatures. The optimal printing temperature for printing with T-Glase filament is between approximately 212°C and 224°C. However it will print up to 207°C and up to around 235°C. T-glase prints easily on acrylic, glass, Kapton and other platforms. It has excellent bridging characteristics and has little to no warping, making it an excellent material for printing large objects. Also nice to know, t-glase prints with no odors or fumes.

T-glase filament comes on a spool with approximately 450 grams of filament wrapped around it and is available in diameters of 1.75mm and 3mm.

Features of the Taulman T-glase filament

    • Taulman T-Glase is made in the USA
    • Very high resistance
    • The optimal printing temperature is between approximately 235°C and 240°C, but will print up to 230°C and up to approximately 248°C
    • Taulman t-glase is FDA approved, as t-glase is made specifically with polymers approved by the FDA for direct food/container contact. This includes cups and other parts for storing liquids, as well as utensils
    • T-glase is recyclable. While t-glase is not as biodegradable as PLA, it is still 100% recoverable in a compatible home extruder/filament maker. If you have a home extruder/filament maker you can actually mix 12% of the total weight in discarded clear water bottles
    • The transparency of Taulman3D t-glases supports industry requirements for non-destructive evaluation of 3D printed parts
    • The very low shrinkage of T-glazes makes printing large flat surfaces a breeze. And print easily on acrylic, glass, Kapton and other platforms
    • T-glase is very impressive at creating bridges
    • There are no odors or fumes when 3D printing with t-glase

Tips and tricks for using Taulman nylon filament

    • Taulman T-glase has a slightly higher viscosity than other printing materials. Since the layer height exceeds 50% of the nozzle diameter, the printing speed must be adjusted downwards by approximately 10% - 20%
    • Retraction: Due to slightly higher viscosity, it may be necessary to lengthen the retraction distance
    • Excessive bubbles in the printed wire indicate a higher than required print temperature. Reducing the print temperature below 238°C will result in less wire haze due to recombination with the atmosphere, however this will also reduce adhesion in layers exceeding 25% of the nozzle diameter
    • Shrinkage is the same as that of ABS and can be controlled by using garolite (LE) as a print bed cover/plate
    • Heated beds help just as they do for ABS printing
    • Note: Taulman T-frosting currently measures 1.76mm to 1.83mm in diameter in a slightly oval shape due to the drawing and cooling process. The cross section of the line is constant, however users should make a slight adjustment to the "Material Diameter" settings (1.78mm - 1.80mm) to accommodate this slight variation.

    Product Specifications

The Taulman t-glase 3D printer filament is wound on a plastic spool that contains approximately 0.45 kg of filament. Our Taulman t-glase filaments are packaged in a sealed silica bag.
