PrimaSELECT Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) – High performance amorphous thermoplastic, better impact resistance and chemical resistance than PEI
PrimaSELECT Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU) is a high-performance amorphous thermoplastic material that offers better impact and chemical resistance than PEI. PPSU can be used at temperatures up to 180 Cᵒ. Compared to other amorphous thermoplastic materials, PPSU has superior hydrolysis resistance. Measured in steam autoclave cycles, it is steam sterilizable virtually indefinitely. It is also resistant to common acids and bases over a wide temperature range.
Material Properties PrimaSELECT™ PPSU Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU):
- Better impact resistance and chemical resistance than PEI
- Superior hydrolysis resistance
- Virtually unlimited steam sterilizability
- Resistant to acids and bases over a wide temperature range
- Applications in aerospace, automotive, dental and other medical applications
PPSU filament meets medical applications and European standards
The PPSU filament produced by PrimaCreator meets the ISO10993 standard for medical applications and complies with the European regulations CE n. 1935/2004, CE n. 2023/2006 and EC n. 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles in contact with food and is also compliant with the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) for food contact. The dyes used by PrimaCreator to color the filament also comply with these European regulations.
Applications of Polyphenylsulfone (PPSU):
- Aerospace
- Automotive industry
- Dentistry
- Medical and surgical instruments
The highest quality standards in PPSU production
PrimaCreator PPSU filament has unique properties because it does not come into contact with water during the manufacturing process and is packaged directly in a vacuum package. These material properties make PrimaCreator PPSU filament particularly suitable for use in FDM and FFF 3D printers. The material has excellent adhesion between layers, which leads to a great improvement in impact resistance, strength and durability. It ensures a simple 3D printing process. PPSU filament is based on Solvay technology.
For successful PPSU 3D printing you need to consider these things
The 3D printer must have the ability to produce PPSU filament and must be 3D printed with a nozzle temperature of 360 - 400°C. The heating bed should be set at 140°C or higher. A heated build chamber is extremely important. It is also important that the 3D printer is located in a room where there are almost no drafts and temperature changes.
PPSU is 3D printed on a PEI sheet at a printing speed of 15-30 mm/s.
