The European EASA regulation provides for the application of new requirements for the use of drones in the Open Category starting from 1 January 2024. This marks the end of the transitional period currently underway.
To ensure that drones meet these requirements, interested manufacturers will need to apply an identification label (C0, C1, C2, etc.) to their systems.
DJI already reached an important milestone last year, certifying the DJI Mavic 3 as C1. Today, it continues to upgrade by obtaining C2 certification for the DJI Matrice 30 and DJI Matrice 30T models.
Let's see what advantages these certifications will bring:
The Matrice 30 series, with a MTOM of 3.9 kg, has achieved C2 certification. This will allow drivers with a regular Open A2 certification to use them in the Open A2 subcategory starting next year. Therefore, it will be possible:
- Avoid flying over gatherings of people.
- Fly up to 30 meters from uninvolved people, both in urban and extra-urban environments.
- Get within 3 meters if LowSpeed mode is activated.
Unlike the Consumer series products (such as Mini, Avata, etc.), the DJI Enterprise series of professional drones is designed with performance and features designed for specific uses, such as aerial photogrammetry, environmental monitoring, infrastructure and plant inspections , surveillance and investigations.
Therefore, reaching this milestone is critical to enabling professionals to use these drones now and in the coming years.
