Panchroma™ CoPE is a new generation copolyester-based filament, designed by Polymaker to offer high-speed printing with an extremely smooth surface and significantly superior bridge and overhang management compared to traditional materials. It is designed to ensure printing is as "plug & play" as possible, with a wide temperature window and surface quality that makes it ideal for both aesthetic prototypes and complex functional parts.

Product Description

The Panchroma™ CoPE series uses an advanced copolyester-based formulation, designed to improve printability, broaden the temperature window, and allow print speeds of up to 400 mm/s while maintaining high quality. The material produces very uniform and clean surfaces, with excellent detail definition and particularly convincing results on critical geometries such as bridges, overhangs, and thin areas.

Panchroma™ CoPE also offers very high bed adhesion, which helps prevent warping even on challenging prints, but requires a little extra care when removing the part. Polymaker recommends using a release agent (such as Magigoo or similar products) and avoiding direct use on textured PEI plates without adhesive, allowing the model to cool completely before removal to reduce the risk of surface damage.

Main Features

  • High-quality surface: formulated to offer a very smooth and homogeneous finish, with a professional appearance even on high-speed printed parts.
  • High-speed printing: designed to support speeds up to 400 mm/s, with a wide temperature window that simplifies setup on different FDM printers.
  • Improved bridge and overhang: the new formulation is optimized to improve performance on bridges and overhangs, reducing the risk of failures and defects on complex geometries.
  • Very strong bed adhesion: excellent grip on the print bed to minimize warping; Polymaker recommends using adhesives and avoiding textured PEI without an intermediate layer for safe detachment.
  • PLA compatibility as support: Panchroma™ CoPE does not adhere well to standard PLA, a characteristic that makes it unsuitable for multi-material PLA+CoPE prints but ideal as a breakaway support for PLA models, with quick and clean removal.
  • Easy to manage: no enclosed chamber required, works with active fan, and easily integrates into most 1.75 mm FDM filament workflows.

Technical Specifications

  • Material: Copolyester-based filament (CoPE, "Regular" in Polymaker TDS).
  • Filament diameter: 1.75 mm.
  • Nozzle temperature: 190 – 230 °C.
  • Bed temperature: 25 – 60 °C; PC or textured PEI surfaces are recommended only with adhesive, to facilitate detachment.
  • Print speed: up to 400 mm/s, with max volumetric speed up to approximately 32 mm³/s on suitable systems.
  • Cooling fan: ON (active cooling recommended for most geometries).
  • Retraction (guidelines):
    • Distance: 1 – 3 mm.

    • Speed: 20 – 40 mm/s (1 mm / 20 mm/s typically for direct drive, 3 mm / 40 mm/s for bowden).

  • Enclosed chamber: not necessary.
  • Drying (if needed): 55 °C for 6 hours if the material has absorbed moisture.

Recommended Use

Panchroma™ CoPE is ideal for projects requiring fast, reliable printing with excellent surface quality, such as functional prototypes, technical parts with demanding bridges/overhangs, and components that benefit from strong bed adhesion. Thanks to its poor adhesion to PLA, it is also particularly suitable as a removable support material for complex PLA models, where quick and clean support removal is essential without damaging the part's surface.

If you are looking for a filament that combines the ease of use of an "easy" material with the speed and robustness typical of advanced copolyesters, Panchroma™ CoPE is the natural choice within the Polymaker ecosystem.

Synthetic Comparison

Aspect Panchroma Matte PLA Polymaker™ PETG Panchroma CoPE
Material Base Bioplastic PLA PETG Copolyester (CoPE)
Target Use Aesthetic prints, everyday, decorative models More functional parts, with more heat and stress Fast prints, complex geometries, support for PLA
Finish Matte, hides layers very well Tends to be shinier / more transparent Smooth, more "technical" look
Ease of Printing Very high, PLA plug & play style Easy but more sensitive to stringing, hotter bed Similar to PLA in feel, but with attention to bed adhesion
Max Speed (Polymaker) Up to 300 mm/s, Vmax ~24 mm³/s Typical 30–50 mm/s, slower but robust Up to 400 mm/s, Vmax ~32 mm³/s
Typical Nozzle Temp. 190–230 °C 230–240 °C 190–230 °C
Typical Bed Temp. 25–60 °C 70–80 °C  25–60 °C
Bed adhesion Good, manageable, suitable for smooth/textured PEI Very good, but requires hot bed and often glue Very strong, textured PEI not recommended without adhesive
Mechanical strength “Evolved PLA”: good for general use, not structural Stronger and tougher than PLA, +20 °C heat resistance  Designed for good toughness, especially on layer bonding, bridging, and overhang
Supports Use PLA/PolySupport supports; matte helps to mask marks  PETG supports, less "clean" breakaway than PLA Does not adhere well to PLA → excellent as breakaway support for PLA models
Typical difficulties Slightly more abrasive than smooth PLA Stringing, need for fan and retraction tuning  Parts detaching from the bed (adhesive and complete cooling necessary)
