SHINING 3D EinScan Trak
SHINING 3D EinScan Trak is a professional wireless 3D scanning system with markerless tracking, designed to digitize medium and large objects quickly and flexibly. Thanks to the removable tracker and portable laser scanner, it allows capturing extensive surfaces, fine details, and hard-to-reach areas within the same project.
The system offers a tracking volume of up to 15 m³, an operating distance between 800 and 4,000 mm, a maximum speed of 2,630,000 points/s, and adjustable resolution from 0.05 to 10 mm. EinScan Trak is particularly suitable for the automotive sector, reverse engineering, product development, vehicle customization and restoration, industrial design, and technical documentation.
A one-year license for EXMeasure for dimensional analysis, GD&T inspection, color map comparison, and report creation is included with the purchase. The corresponding license card is included in the package.
Strengths
- Wireless and markerless scanning: the tracker detects the scanner's position via the retroreflective targets integrated into the spherical module, reducing preparation time.
- Two operating modes: Tracking mode for large surfaces and objects, and Handheld Scanner mode for details, smaller components, and hard-to-reach areas.
- Tracking volume up to 15 m³: allows greater freedom to work on vehicles, boats, industrial components, and other large geometries.
- High acquisition speed: up to 2,630,000 points per second.
- Flexible resolution: from 0.05 to 10 mm, with the possibility of using different resolutions in the same project.
- Three laser modes: 19+19 crossed lines for extended surfaces, 7 parallel lines for defined details and edges, single line for deep holes and recessed areas.
- High-definition color texture: the integrated 5 MP camera captures colors and surface details.
- Compatibility with complex surfaces: supports scanning black and reflective materials, such as some automotive components.
- Indoor and outdoor use: also works in intense ambient light, up to 110,000 lux.
- Hot-swappable batteries: up to 5.5 hours of battery life in Tracking mode and up to 3.5 hours with the handheld scanner.
Two modes in one system
EinScan Trak combines a wireless tracking system with a removable handheld laser scanner. This configuration allows quickly choosing the most suitable device for the part of the object to be digitized.
Tracking Mode
Tracking mode is optimized for rapid scanning of medium-large objects and extensive surfaces. The tracker follows the position of the spherical scanner module in real-time, allowing movement around the object without applying markers directly to its surface.
The tracker can be moved during operation to extend the coverage area. To further expand the scanning field, a Hybrid Leapfrog function is also available, which allows extending tracking using a reduced number of reference markers.
Handheld Scanner Mode
The handheld scanner can be detached and used independently of the tracker. It is ideal for acquiring details, small components, cavities, and areas difficult to reach with the tracking system.
Data acquired in both modes can be combined in the same project, even when different resolutions and laser modes are used. This allows rapid acquisition of the general geometry and increasing the level of detail only in areas that require it.

Markerless scanning
The spherical scanner module integrates retroreflective targets that allow the tracker to determine its position in space in real-time. It is therefore not necessary to apply markers to the object to acquire large smooth surfaces or surfaces without distinctive geometric elements.
The Handheld Scanner mode also supports markerless laser scanning on feature-rich surfaces. For applications requiring the highest possible accuracy, SHINING 3D still recommends using global markers.
Three laser modes
EinScan Trak offers three laser configurations, designed to adapt to different geometries:
- 19+19 crossed laser lines: optimized for rapid acquisition of large surfaces and objects.
- 7 parallel laser lines: designed to capture precise details, sharp edges, and more complex geometries.
- Single laser line: suitable for deep holes, cavities, and recessed areas. The supported depth-to-diameter ratio is up to 1:4.
The ability to change laser modes during operation allows combining speed and detail in the same acquisition workflow.

Adjustable speed and resolution
The system achieves a maximum speed of 2,630,000 points per second and offers a configurable resolution from 0.05 to 10 mm. It is possible to use a general resolution for scanning the entire object and apply a higher local resolution to areas requiring more detail.
This flexibility is useful, for example, for rapidly digitizing a vehicle body and then acquiring edges, fillets, holes, or specific components with greater precision. The final model can integrate data from different laser modes, resolutions, and operating modes.
5 MP color texture
The integrated 5 MP camera captures color and surface material information. Color texture can be useful for applications where, in addition to geometry, it is important to preserve the visual appearance of the object, including:
- cultural heritage preservation;
- art and research;
- augmented reality and virtual reality;
- technical documentation;
- creation of digital content;
- vehicle customization and restoration.
Reliability and autonomy
EinScan Trak is designed for indoor and outdoor use and can operate in ambient light conditions up to 110,000 lux. The system can also acquire black and reflective surfaces, reducing the need for preliminary treatments in many applications.
The tracker offers up to 5.5 hours of battery life, while the handheld scanner reaches up to 3.5 hours of continuous use. Batteries are hot-swappable, allowing scanning to continue without interruption. The package includes four batteries.
Full system calibration takes approximately 5–10 minutes and ensures reliable performance even when environmental conditions change. The system is designed to operate at temperatures between −10 °C and 40 °C.
