    PEEK is often used to replace various polymer and metal components in automobiles, machinery and airplanes. Due to its high resistance to heat and chemicals, PEEK can be used in many ways, just as metal components are usually used. It can maintain its properties at high service temperatures for a long time. PEEK is also used in the medical field as it is perfect for making custom prosthetic parts such as arms, hands and cranial implants.

    PEEK filament easier to 3D print

    For a long time, PEEK was one of the most difficult materials to 3D print, but after much research an additive was invented and Luvocom 9581 PEEK was introduced. This new additive changed the way PEEK can be used as it is now made to work better with FDM 3D printers.

    The SELECT Peek never comes into contact with water during the production process and is packaged directly in vacuum bags. This and the additive create a PEEK filament with excellent layer adhesion which obviously greatly improves impact resistance, durability, strength and also makes the printing process much easier than regular PEEK.

    3D printer requirements for 3D printing PEEK filament

    To make a successful PEEK 3D print there are a few things to keep in mind. Your 3D printer must have the performance necessary to meet the requirements of PEEK filament. PEEK filament should be 3D printed with a nozzle temperature of 360 - 400°C. The heated bed should be set to 120°C and it is important to have a heated build chamber. Also make sure that your 3D printer is placed in a room where there are almost no drafts and temperature changes. PEEK is 3D printed onto PEI sheet at a printing speed of 15-30 mm/s.
