Forward AM Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH Metal is a metal-filled filament designed to enable the production of high-strength stainless steel components using standard FFF 3D printing workflows. It combines the flexibility of filament printing with the performance of precipitation-hardened stainless steel. The material is suitable for functional metal components with complex geometries. Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH Metal is developed for professional and industrial manufacturing environments.

Key features

  • 17-4 PH stainless steel-based metal filament
  • Enables production of high-strength metal components
  • Suitable for complex and functional geometries
  • Compatible with standard FFF 3D printers
  • Supports debinding and sintering workflows
  • Designed for professional and industrial use

Metal components made via FFF 3D printing

Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH Metal enables users to produce true metal components using filament-based 3D printing. The filament consists of stainless steel powder embedded in a polymer binder, allowing for easy printing on conventional FFF systems before post-processing.

High mechanical strength and corrosion resistance.

Made from precipitation-hardened 17-4 PH stainless steel, the final sintered parts offer an excellent balance of strength, hardness, and corrosion resistance. This makes the material particularly well-suited for demanding functional applications where mechanical performance and durability are critical.

Suitable for complex, functional components

The filament-based process enables the production of complex shapes, internal channels, and customized designs that are difficult or costly to achieve with traditional metal manufacturing methods. Typical applications include tooling, fixtures, brackets, and mechanical components.

Professional workflow with debinding and sintering.

After printing, the parts undergo a debinding and sintering process to remove the binder and densify the metal. This established post-processing workflow results in solid stainless steel components with predictable material properties, making Ultrafuse® 17-4 PH Metal a reliable solution for industrial manufacturing and prototyping.
