eSUN PLA-Cast – Filament for Investment Casting and Lost-PLA Casting
eSUN PLA-Cast filament is an advanced solution developed specifically for investment casting (lost-PLA) applications. Designed to ensure a clean burnout (thermal decomposition) with minimal ash residue, it allows for the easy transformation of 3D printed models into high-precision metal components.
It combines the ease of printing typical of standard PLA with chemical-physical properties optimal for metal casting processes, eliminating the need for traditional and elaborate manual wax carving techniques.
Key Features
- Optimized for Investment Casting (Lost-PLA): Ideal for creating masters/models to be coated in plaster or refractory material and evacuated in a furnace without deforming the mold.
- Clean Master Burnout: Burns away leaving very little ash residue, preventing defects, porosity, or impurities in cast metal parts.
- Exceptional Detail Reproduction: Perfect for complex geometries, filigree, fine textures, and high-resolution details.
- Easy to Print: Uses standard PLA filament settings (good layer adhesion, no severe warping, smooth extrusion).
- High Print Speed: Supports high printing speeds (up to 250 mm/s) with excellent dimensional stability.
- Versatility of Use: Suitable for goldsmithing, jewelry, art sculpture, functional metal prototyping, and small-batch production.
Typical Applications
- Jewelry and Goldsmithing: Models for rings, pendants, and high-precision components.
- Art and Sculpture: Artistic castings in bronze, brass, silver, or aluminum.
- Industrial Prototyping: Functional metal prototypes ready for testing or sampling.
- Custom Components: Rapid production of unique mechanical parts in small series.
