Product Description

The Dronavia Kronos M4 is a C5 conversion kit for the DJI Matrice 4E/4T that integrates an internal Parachute Recovery System (PRS) and Flight Termination System (FTS), significantly increasing the level of safety and the likelihood of mitigating damage in the event of an in-flight emergency. By installing the Kronos M4 on a C2-class Matrice 4, the drone can be converted to C5 class through an authorized service center, becoming eligible for STS-01 operations in a specific category according to EASA regulations.

The Parachute Recovery System uses a next-generation PARA² parachute, featuring high aerodynamic efficiency and stability, to slow the descent and keep the drone as horizontal as possible during impact, reducing kinetic energy and potential damage to people, infrastructure, and payload. The deployment is managed by an autonomous logic with sensors (gyroscope, accelerometer, barometer, GPS) that detect loss of control and activate the parachute in less than 0.27 s, much faster than a manual response.

The internal Flight Termination System intervenes by stopping propulsion in a controlled manner, preventing the propellers from posing a risk during descent and helping maintain the most stable attitude possible. The system also stops deployment below a minimum height (typically around 20–34 m, depending on settings) to prevent ineffective or accidental deployments near the ground.

The Kronos M4 is powered by a dedicated battery with up to approximately 10 hours of battery life, rechargeable via USB-C, completely independent of the drone's power system. This redundant architecture ensures that the PRS/FTS remains operational even in the event of anomalies with the Matrice 4's flight batteries, increasing the reliability of the overall safety system.

The Klick remote control included in the kit uses a long-range radio link (up to approximately 1.5 km in optimal conditions) with LoRa modulation on the 869 MHz band and 128-bit encryption, offering manual control of the parachute and FTS and protection against interference, spoofing, and unauthorized activations. The unit also integrates a “black box” function to record activation events, useful for operational reports and documentation for authorities or insurance companies.

The kit is specifically designed for the Matrice 4E/4T architecture: brackets, cabling, and modules are sized to minimize impact on the center of gravity and payload configuration, while maintaining the main sensor bays available.
