The next-generation long-range 1535nm LiDAR and dual 100MP RGB mapping cameras enhance aerial geospatial operations that require higher accuracy and broader visibility.
DJI, a world leader in civilian drones and creative camera technology, today unveiled the DJI Zenmuse L3. This high-precision aerial LiDAR system features a long-range 1535 nm LiDAR capable of reaching 950 m even on objects with just 10% reflectivity, while maintaining exceptional penetration capabilities. Thanks to its dual 100 MP RGB cameras and high-precision Positioning Orientation System (POS), geospatial data acquisition can be accelerated, covering up to 100 km² per day. When combined with the D-RTK 3 Multi-Function Station and DJI Enterprise software, the Zenmuse L3 offers an end-to-end solution that streamlines geospatial operations by generating multiple mapping results in a single flight.

Focusing on greater accuracy and broader visibility, the Zenmuse L3 represents a breakthrough for DJI in long-range, high-precision LiDAR, which will undoubtedly advance and transform the global geospatial industry. With this latest innovation, DJI aims to expand the adoption of high-end LiDAR technology for aerial surveys to a wider range of enterprise applications, from surveying and emergency response to historic preservation, energy infrastructure inspections, and forestry.
High-precision 1535nm LiDAR and proprietary high-accuracy positioning system
The Zenmuse L3 LiDAR system achieves a sensing range of 950 m at a pulse frequency of 100 kHz, tested under 100 klx ambient light and on objects with 10% reflectivity. This pulse frequency is adjustable, allowing for flexible power output and optimal adaptability to different operational scenarios.

The in-house developed LiDAR ensures range repeatability of 5 mm at 150 m (1σ) and supports time synchronization at the microsecond level. Mapping projects at scales of 1:500, 1:1000 and 1:2000 can be supported thanks to significant improvements in vertical accuracy (3 cm at 120 m, 5 cm at 300 m and 10 cm at 500 m). It can accurately detect smaller objects, such as power lines and branches, thanks to a laser beam divergence of only 0.25 mrad (1/e²): the laser spot size at the same distance is approximately one-fifth that of the Zenmuse L2.

100MP RGB mapping dual camera system
Equipped with a dual 100MP 4/3 RGB CMOS sensor and mechanical shutter, the Zenmuse L3 offers significantly improved accuracy and efficiency. It can achieve a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 3cm, even at a flight altitude of 300m. The dual RGB mapping cameras offer a horizontal field of view (FOV) of up to 107°, allowing each capture to cover a larger area.

High pulse frequency and multiple returns for superior penetration capacity
Highly accurate spatial reconstructions can be generated thanks to a maximum laser pulse rate of 2 million points per second and support for up to 16 returns. With significant hardware improvements, the Zenmuse L3 now supports a star scan mode that balances accuracy with multiple scan angles. The penetration capability is particularly suitable for terrain mapping in contexts such as dense forests and urban environments, enabling the acquisition of a greater number of ground points with greater completeness and significantly improving the accuracy and integrity of terrain data for precise surface modeling and reconstruction.
High efficiency, coverage up to 100 km² per day
When mounted on the DJI Matrice 400, the Zenmuse L3 offers exceptional efficiency. At a flight altitude of 300 m, a single flight can cover up to 10 km², allowing for daily coverage of up to 100 km². Additionally, it can simultaneously acquire LiDAR and RGB data to generate a variety of mapping products from a single flight, including digital orthophotomosaics (DOMs), digital elevation models (DEMs), and more, even with a 20% LiDAR lateral overlap ratio.
Complete solution without interruptions

The Zenmuse L3 integrates seamlessly with the DJI ecosystem to offer a complete mapping solution. This includes the D-RTK 3 Multi-Function Station, DJI Pilot 2, DJI Terra, DJI Modify, and DJI FlightHub 2. From surveying and data processing to application, this unified workflow is simpler to use and easier to master than traditional multi-platform setups, helping users efficiently complete a wide range of mapping tasks.
