Panchroma™ Matte is a new generation bioplastic PLA filament designed to offer matte, clean, and professional prints, with ease of use comparable to standard PLA but with a significantly superior aesthetic result. It is the evolution of the well-known PolyTerra™ PLA: same formulation, same colors, and same print quality, with a new name and updated packaging.
Key Features
- Matte bioplastic: smooth and completely matte surface that minimizes the visibility of layer lines, ideal for aesthetic prototypes, design models, and decorative objects.
- Easy to print: behaves like a "plug & play" PLA, with a wide temperature window and compatibility with most 1.75 mm FDM filament printers.
- Optimized density: density of approximately 1.37 g/cm³, an excellent compromise between rigidity, weight, and aesthetic appeal, suitable for a wide range of applications.
- Reliable performance: excellent layer adhesion, good mechanical strength, and consistent results even on long prints.
- Sustainability: bioplastic-based formulation with recyclable cardboard spool, for reduced environmental impact compared to traditional PLAs.
- Slightly more abrasive than standard PLA: hardened nozzle recommended for prolonged use or intensive prints.
Technical Specifications
- Material: Matte bioplastic PLA (formerly PolyTerra™ PLA).
- Filament diameter: 1.75 mm (tolerance ±0.03 mm).
- Density: approximately 1.37 g/cm³ at 23 °C.
- Nozzle temperature: 190 – 230 °C (recommended to start at 200–210 °C and adjust based on the printer).
- Bed temperature: 25 – 60 °C, printing also possible on a cold bed with good adhesion on smooth or textured PEI.
- Print speed: up to 300 mm/s, with an indicative maximum extrusion volume of 24 mm³/s; for older machines, it is recommended to reduce the speed to maximize surface quality.
- Cooling fan: ON at 100% for most geometries.
- Retraction (guideline): 1 mm at 20 mm/s on direct drive extruders, 3 mm at 40 mm/s on bowden (indicative values to be calibrated).
- Glass transition / softening temperature: approximately 60–63 °C.
- Drying (if necessary): 55 °C for 6 hours in a filament dryer.
Recommended Use
Panchroma™ Matte is ideal for those looking for an easy-to-manage filament with a professional matte finish: perfect for visual prototyping, props, modeling, furniture objects, gadgets, and display components where aesthetics are as important as functionality. Thanks to its broad compatibility with consumer and professional FDM printers, it is a solid choice for both beginners and experienced makers who want a reliable and consistent matte PLA.
