SAREMCO print CROWNTEC photopolymerizable resin for 3D dental restorations with high biocompatibility; formulated for permanent crowns, inlays/onlays, veneers, artificial teeth, and temporaries, valid for DLP/LCD systems at 385–405 nm.

SAREMCO print CROWNTEC is a liquid resin based on methacrylic esters, designed for 3D printing of both permanent and temporary dental restorations. The material is single-phase, of medium viscosity, and ensures aesthetics conforming to VITA® standards (A1, A2, A3, B1, and SW/bleach), with opacity specially calibrated for highly aesthetic restorations.saremco+1
Crowntec offers high mechanical strength and dimensional stability after post-curing: elastic modulus > 4000 MPa, Barcol hardness > 40, and typical flexural strength > 130 MPa (declared and measured values according to DIN EN ISO 4049). The product is classified as a Class IIa medical device in Europe and Class II in the USA, and is supplied in 500 g bottles.

Areas of Use and Indications

  • Production of definitive crowns (anterior and posterior), inlays, onlays, and veneers.
  • Production of temporary crowns and bridges, temporary inlays/onlays, and veneers.
  • Fabrication of artificial teeth for insertion into denture bases.

Contraindications and Usage Limitations

  • Not indicated for Maryland bridges or inlay-bridges, for cantilever bridges, or in patients with bruxism; do not use for more than one pontic per fixed bridge.
  • Do not use in case of known allergy to ingredients (contains methacrylates; risk of sensitization).

Printer and Light Compatibility
Approved and validated for numerous DLP/LCD systems at 385 or 405 nm, including NextDent 5100, Asiga MAX UV & PRO 4K, Rapid Shape D20/D30/D40/D10/D20+/D30+/D50+, SprintRay K55/K95, Phrozen Sonic 4K/XL 4K, Accuretta Sol & Dentic. Printing must be performed with parameters and profiles recommended by the printer and software manufacturer (recommended slice 50 µm unless otherwise indicated for some models).

Printing and Post-processing Instructions (Summary)

  • Shake the bottle briefly, filter if necessary (190 µm), and pour into the vat; set the CROWNTEC profile/material file in the printer software. Avoid contamination of the reservoir.
  • Recommended layer thickness: 50 µm (some Ackuretta models: 70 µm). Optimal orientation: occlusal towards the platform/build platform (0° tilt recommended). Maintain environmental conditions and temperature required for the specific printer (e.g., Asiga: 35 °C operating).
  • Cleaning: remove parts from the platform, remove residues with alcohol (96%), dry with an air syringe; wear nitrile gloves and protective eyewear during all stages until post-curing.
  • Post-curing: mandatory for mechanical properties and biocompatibility; times and protocols depend on the unit (e.g., Otoflash G171: 2 x 2000 flashes with rotation; Signum HiLite: 2 x 180 s; NextDent LC-3DPrintbox: 30 min), always follow the instructions of the post-curing unit. Post-curing reduces residual monomers and optimizes final properties.

Finishing and Cementation

  • Grind/trim with diamond burs (40 μ and 12 μ), polish with discs/pastes or silicone polishers to desired gloss; use suction and cooling during polishing.
  • Definitive bonding: micro-sandblast (Al2O3 110 μm) the internal surface, then cement with recommended adhesive composite cements (e.g., Panavia V5, Variolink); phosphate or glass-ionomer cements have limited advantages due to opacity. For temporaries, use commercial temporary cements.

Safety, Storage, and Warnings

  • For dental laboratory/dental use only; avoid contact with skin and eyes with unpolymerized material; use nitrile gloves (common medical gloves may not protect against methacrylates). In case of contact: rinse with water and consult a doctor if necessary.
  • Storage: store away from light and heat sources, recommended temperature 4–28 °C; close container after use. Do not mix different batches. Shelf life: 3–4 years depending on the document (TDS/IFU) — check expiration date on the bottle.
  • Danger: contains ethoxylated Bisphenol A dimethacrylate; may cause skin/eye irritation and sensitization. Follow the P-statements indicated in IFU and SDS.

Practical Use Example
Rapid printing of a permanent monolithic crown: import STL, set CROWNTEC profile in 3D Sprint/Composer/Rayware, slice 50 µm, occlusal-towards-platform orientation, generate supports on the occlusal, print → wash with 96% alcohol → dry → remove supports → post-curing according to unit (e.g., 2 x 180 s Signum) → sandblast internal and cement with recommended adhesive composite.
