Vanishing mattifying spray for 3D scanning
No cleaning is required.
SPRAY | SCAN | DONE
Even with state-of-the-art scanners, it is necessary to apply the matting spray in several application cases:
a) Transparent parts
Since we are dealing with optical technologies, the light must be reflected from the surface into the scanner sensor. In the case of a transparent surface, however, the light will pass through the surface instead of being reflected by it. As a result, the scanner is unable to capture the surface structure.
b) Reflective parts
In the case of reflective parts, such as a mirror, the light beams will be reflected in a focused rather than diffuse manner. This means that the chance of a ray hitting the scanner's reflector is greatly reduced and the scanner will only capture a fraction of the reflected light rays.
c) Deep cavities
When the object to be scanned has deep cavities, the scanner receives a reflection from the cavity walls at the bottom. This causes disturbances in the light pattern that show up in the scan as "artifacts" or bad data.
d) High quality and precision
When quality and accuracy are important, you may want to apply the spray to remove color differences, differences in reflection, texture, etc. as much as possible.
The use of the spray creates an opaque white coating that reduces reflections and other inhomogeneities and thus provides a perfect scanning condition.
In general, matting sprays used in 3D metrology for anti-reflection coating can be classified into the following two product groups:
Permanent sprays
- the surface remains white after scanning
- required cleaning or disposal of the scanned object
Vanishing sprays
- the coating evaporates automatically
- no cleanup required after scanning
- no pigment contamination of laboratories, sensors, environments, scanners and users
AESUB blue - strengths
AESUB blue is an evanescent scanning spray, developed by scanning experts. The spray evaporates within a few hours, meaning there is no need to clean up after scanning. Unlike traditional sprays, AESUB blue does not contain pigments and therefore avoids pigment contamination of sensitive areas, such as laboratories and production sites, equipment and users. You can then apply AESUB blue directly, on the scan site, without any expensive transportation to avoid the aforementioned pigment contamination in sensitive areas. Overall, AESUB blue significantly increases efficiency and productivity in digitalization processes.
The features of AESUB blue are:
- evanescence
- saving time and costs: subsequent cleaning is not necessary
- layer thickness of ~8-15 μm
- Pigment-free: spray powder does not damage sensitive scanning technology
- consistent and homogeneous coating and dry to the touch
- the reference points (markers) attach to the covering
- optimized material compatibility
- excellent scannability
