The Drywise Filament Dryer takes the guesswork out of 3D printing hygroscopic materials. Drywise takes approximately 50 minutes to pre-treat your filament to the best print condition before 3D printing can begin. An inline drying design ensures that long 3D prints will always be printed with consistent material dried to the best print condition.

As an inline system, the Drywise dryer dries only the portion of the filament used for printing, during the 3D printing process instead of drying the entire spool. Conventional methods can take up to 48 hours to dry wet filament and can damage the filament spool and/or the filament itself. The filament drying process is pre-calibrated and customized for each type of material, eliminating the guesswork required when using traditional drying methods.

Why is filament drying important?

Hygroscopic FDM filaments tend to absorb significant amounts of moisture from the environment over the course of a few days. Some materials cannot be printed out of the box due to the high levels of moisture already present in the material. Moisture in filaments can cause visible artifacts during printing, including poor surface finish, stringing, and bleed. Moisture in filaments can potentially cause print failures and potentially affect the mechanical properties of the printed part. As a result, moisture-sensitive materials should be dried before printing, however without special storage or pre-treatment, print quality can still significantly degrade, especially over the course of a longer print.
