Gen3 CarbonX™ Carbon Fiber Reinforced Nylon 3D Filament

CarbonX™ PA6+CF [Gen3] is made with a special copolymer of nylon 6 [PA6] and high modulus carbon fibers.

This is the preferred material for industrial applications requiring superior thermal, mechanical and chemical resistance while being easy to print.

Gen3 has a high heat resistance (HDT) > 147°C at 0.45 MPa, allowing use in applications with higher temperature influences.

Open Source

There is no need to purchase a special printer for CarbonX™ CF Nylon. CF Nylon (Gen 3) is suitable for use in virtually any desktop 3D printer with a heated print bed.

Use a hardened nozzle

Carbon fiber reinforced filaments are abrasive and can wear out a normal brass or aluminum nozzle. Therefore we strongly recommend coated nozzles or hardened steel nozzles.

Recommended printing conditions

• Extruder
• 240-270°C
• CarbonX™ CF Nylon demonstrates improved layer bonding at higher temperatures.
• Bed temperature
• 80 - 100 ° C.
• Making the bed
• Polyimide film, glass cleaned with isopropanol
• Hardened nozzle
• 0.4mm or more. Therefore we highly recommend coated nozzles or hardened steel nozzles.
• Layer height
• The ideal layer height is 60% of the nozzle diameter. We do not recommend printing layers smaller than 0.25mm with carbon fiber grades. Anything less than 0.25mm can create too much back pressure on the hot end and cause poor feeding, jamming, drive gear clicking, and filament shearing.
• Drying instructions
• Maximum drying temperature (90 °C) / 4 hours
