
DJI News: O4 Air Unit for FPV Drones Introduced
DJI launched the video transmission system Air Unit O4 , designed to improve the experience on FPV drones thanks to the innovative protocol Ocusync 4 , already used on many models of the company. This new version offers exceptional digital quality, setting new standards for the sector.
Weighing only Weighing 8.2 grams , the O4 Air Unit offers 4K transmission at 60 fps, ultra-low latency and high range. Its modest weight allows it to be installed on the drone and connected to the camera and power supply without compromising agility and control possibilities. Its 1/2-inch sensor provides an ideal balance between portability and video quality, making it perfect for various types of drones.

Pro version for the most demanding
For creators who require advanced features, DJI offers the O4 Air Unit Pro, which integrates a 1/1.3-inch sensor capable of recording in 4K at 120fps. With an ultra-wide 155° field of view and support for 10-bit D-Log M , the version Pro ensures incredible details in both highlights and shadows. The total weight, including the camera, reaches 32 grams.
The formula 10-bit D-Log M refers to a video recording format used mainly in high-end video cameras, such as cinema cameras or DJI drones. Let's explain it piece by piece:
10 bits: indicates the amount of information that each color can contain. In a 10-bit video, each color (red, green, and blue) can have 1,024 different shades , compared to traditional 8-bit (256 shades per color). This means a much wider color gamut and smoother color transitions, ideal for editing and color correction.
D-Log M: is a logarithmic color profile developed by DJI. A logarithmic profile flattens the captured image by reducing contrast and saturation. This helps preserve more detail in the shadows and highlights (the darkest and brightest parts of the image). Although the video may appear “flat” and dull when recorded, this format allows for more flexibility in editing to achieve the desired look.

O4 Air Unit : Why is 10-bit D-Log M format useful?
With a video to 10-bit in D-Log M , videographers can:
• Recover more details in the colors and extreme areas of the image.
• Have greater creative freedom during post-production (color correction, grading).
Simply put, it is a format that sacrifices the initial look of the video to give users more options to improve it during editing.

Enhanced FPV experience
The O4 Air Unit ensures 4K video transmission with a maximum range of 10 km and a latency of only 20 ms . The Pro version goes even further, with a maximum distance of 15 km and reduced latency to 15 ms , thanks to the system double antenna which optimizes signal stability.
Racing mode and stabilization
For the more competitive FPV pilots, the Racing mode (Racing) allows you to maintain low latency, ideal for high-speed racing. In addition, stabilization Rock Steady and Gyroflow compatibility ensure stable shooting even in the most challenging conditions.
