Control DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbals with Apple Watch? Now You Can
DJI has released exciting new updates for Osmo Mobile 6 and Osmo Mobile SE, making the intelligent smartphone stabilizers compatible with several Apple Watch models for remote control.
This means you can now use your Apple Watch to view camera images, take photos, shoot videos, control the gimbal direction and adjust composition, switch between portrait and landscape modes, and remotely enable ActiveTrack on your Watch. DJI Osmo Mobile , giving you a completely seamless shooting experience. And when you're done, the resulting photo or the first frame of the video can be viewed remotely on the watch.
DJI's compact gimbals offer advanced 3-axis stabilization technology that ensures stable, smooth footage on the go. You can hike and run while capturing incredibly smooth, cinematic videos, or instantly switch between landscape and portrait orientations to share your relaxing moments on social media. Osmo Mobile 6's built-in extension rod makes selfies and low-angle shots even easier, unlocking more angles and shooting possibilities for greater creative freedom.
However, please note that due to the limitations of the Apple Watch's video transmission bandwidth, there may be some differences in the resolution of the video you view on your watch compared to that of your iPhone's camera. These differences may also vary between different Apple Watch models. However, rest assured, this will not affect the compositing or resolution of the final videos and photos.
How to Use DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbals with Apple Watch
Osmo Mobile remote control is now available for Apple Watch Series 7/8/9, Apple Watch SE 2, and Apple Watch Ultra 1/2, running watchOS 9 or later.
To access this feature, simply pair your Apple Watch with your iPhone after updating the DJI Mimo app to version 2.0.4 on your smartphone. You also need to update your Osmo Mobile 6 or Osmo Mobile SE to V01.06.02.10 or later. Once that’s done, open the DJI Mimo app on your iPhone and open the DJI Mimo app on your Apple Watch to start using it.
Ideally, you should be operating in an open, unobstructed area, and keeping the devices within eight meters of each other. You can make the DJI Mimo app interface stay active and visible longer on your Apple Watch by following these steps: Settings > Display & Brightness > Wake Duration > Wake for 70 Seconds.

In addition to introducing Apple Watch compatibility, version 2.0.4 of the app DJI Mimo optimizes the subject tracking function via ActiveTrack. Both the performance of ActiveTrack and the user interface display have been improved, providing more stable subject tracking and a smoother shooting experience.
Additionally, DJI has optimized the AI editor for Parent-Child mode. When this feature is enabled, moments of interaction between parents and children can be captured automatically. Now, the recorded video can be automatically edited and generated in the DJI Mimo app once the shot is complete.
