Introducing the AMS - Automatic Material System by Bambu Lab:
Unlock the world of multicolor 3D printing
Color, the language of emotions, becomes your canvas with Bambu Lab's Automatic Material System (AMS). Dive into the world of multicolor printing , unleash your imagination and make your 3D projects much cooler.
Versatile multi-material printing
Compatible with multiple materials , including PLA, ABS, ASA, PETG, PC and more, the AMS lets you experiment and create with different materials, broadening your horizons.
Easy support removal
AMS simplifies the support removal process by offering peelable support materials or dissolvable filaments, minimizing the hassle of removing support after printing.
Say goodbye to wasted filament
AMS eliminates the inconvenience of manually replacing spools when filament runs out. The switch to new spools occurs seamlessly , ensuring uninterrupted printing and reducing filament waste.
Reliable filament backup
Don't worry about running out of filament on long prints or when you're on the go. AMS's filament backup function ensures uninterrupted printing , promoting energy efficiency and minimizing filament waste.
Advanced intelligent system
With a 32-bit MCU, sensor arrays, actuators and intelligent algorithms, the AMS achieves unmatched intelligence . It expertly manages filament loading and unloading, and efficiently detects and recovers errors, ensuring a trouble-free printing experience.
Detecting filament winding problems
AMS promptly detects filament winding problems on the tool head, avoiding potential printing accidents due to tangled filament or spool clogs and ensuring maximum print quality.
Always keep your filaments dry and in tip-top condition
The AMS features an airtight seal and a desiccant material that absorbs moisture and keeps the filaments dry. The built-in humidity sensor provides real-time humidity status, ensuring the best possible print quality.
Automatic filament identification
Bambu Lab filaments are equipped with RFID tags that are automatically recognized by the AMS, allowing you to optimize the settings for the chosen material. For perfect synchronization, the RFID tags are automatically updated through Bambu Studio. Non-Bambu Lab filaments can be manually configured for use in Bambu Studio or on the printer.
Elevate your color palette
Each Bambu Lab AMS offers four filament slots, and up to four AMS units can be installed in parallel, supporting up to 16 colors. You can create vibrant, multicolored prints that stand out with ease by connecting four AMS units via the AMS Hub .

* Filaments that are too soft, brittle or abrasive are not compatible with the AMS, such as Bamboo PET-CF/TPU 95A and TPE, TPV, PVA, PET-CF/GF, PA-CF/GF, PAHT-CF/GF, etc. filaments. If you prefer to use cardboard spools, we recommend using a spool adapter to reduce the risk of slipping and debris getting stuck in the AMS.
