How to Live Stream From Your DJI Drone to Facebook Using Litchi
Stream DJI Drone Video to Facebook Live Using the Litchi App
Litchi, one of the most popular third-party flight apps for DJI drones , has released a new update that removes native support for live streaming to Facebook. However, you can still live stream drone videos to Facebook from the Litchi app by following the steps in this article.
Recently, Lychee has updated its app to version 2.15.7 for iOS devices and version 4.26.9 for Android platforms. With this update, Litchi was forced to remove the native Facebook live streaming integration due to changes Facebook made to its SDK/API.
As we said, this only complicates the live broadcast of your DJI drone video to Facebook a little. You have to follow the RTMP (Real-Time Messaging Protocol) protocol. Here's how to do it…
Step 1: Go to your Facebook profile page or the Facebook Page/Group where you want to go live and click “Live Video” to open the Facebook Live Producer.
Note: Facebook Live Producer is only available within a web browser, it is not available in the mobile app. If you want to use your mobile device to do this, visit Facebook.com in your mobile device's web browser with the "Desktop Site" option enabled.
Step 2: Find the server URL and streaming key
Keep this page open as you proceed to the next step.
Note: In Facebook Live Producer, Litchi recommends using the advanced “Persistent Stream Key” setting to avoid having to enter a new stream key for each live stream.
Step 3: In the Litchi app, tap the share icon in the top-right corner, then select Facebook Live or RTMP Streaming (same function).
Step 4: Combine the Facebook server URL and streaming key together and paste them into the Litchi RTMP address input.
Step 5: Go back to the Facebook Live Producer page and click “Go Live.”
Please note that it may take up to 10 seconds before the “Go Live” button becomes available.
If you still have streaming issues, you can try changing the “RTMP Live Streaming Bitrate” to a lower value in the Litchi app settings. You can also disable “Full HD Streaming” in the Litchi settings for drones that do not support it.
