The new Action 4 firmware brings Bluetooth support to the DJI Mic 2
The second iteration of DJI's audio recording solution, Mic 2, made its quiet debut with the Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo a few weeks ago. The product has since undergone several firmware changes, the latest of which adds support for connecting to the new Osmo Action 4 camera via Bluetooth.
Firmware v01.03.07.10 is now available for download for DJI's most advanced action camera. The app Mime that accompanies it, however, does not need updates at the moment.
In particular, the new firmware allows you to connect the DJI Mic 2 transmitter to the camera Action 4 via Bluetooth . However, only one DJI Mic 2 transmitter can be connected with this method.
It's worth mentioning that the wireless recording solution received a firmware update in late November. The update added an automatic shutdown feature when the transmitter is not connected to a device and not recording on its own for more than 15 minutes.
What's interesting is that none of the Action 4 combinations on sale currently contain a Mic 2 transmitter. For this reason, this development is probably aimed at the purchase of a Mic 2 transmitter. Therefore, this development is likely to be aimed at a group of users who also own a Pocket 3 Creator Combo.
But that doesn't mean other Action 4 users won't find value in the new firmware. In addition to bringing Bluetooth connectivity from the DJI Mic 2, the Action 4's new firmware also fixes some known bugs. Additionally, the company has increased the default volume of the beep that indicates the start of a video recording.
The Action 4 features a powerful 1/1.3-inch image sensor, a large f/2.8 aperture and 2.4μm-equivalent pixels to capture 4K/120fps shooting and deliver an ultra-wide FOV of 155 degrees. Multiple stabilization modes are available to ensure stable, high-quality images in various sports and non-sports scenarios. The camera also boasts a 10-bit D-Log M color mode that opens up a world of postproduction possibilities with a billion colors and wider dynamic range.
