DJI introduces updates for Avata and Mavic 3 drones

DJI has released surprise updates for the Avata FPV drone and Mavic 3 aircraft, promising to fix some known issues. What exactly these fixes are, however, remains a mystery.

DJI Avata Firmware Update

Avata, DJI's palm-sized ready-to-fly FPV drone, has been one of the most popular this holiday sales season, since it was offered at an incredible 30% discount. While its intuitive controls make FPV flying accessible to even novice pilots, the technological wizardry packed into the Avata's small chassis is enough to enable more professional and creative aerial movements.

The latest update brings the DJI Avata aircraft firmware version to 01.05.0000 and the RC Motion 2 controller firmware to v01.07.0000. If you use the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2 or the DJI Motion Controller to fly the Avata, update them to v02.00.0900 and v02.00.0700 respectively. As for video headsets, it is possible to update the DJI Goggles 2 to version 01.09.0000, the Integra Goggles to version 01.05.0000 and the FPV Goggles V2 to version 01.07.0000. The version of the DJI Fly application compatible with this update is 1.12.4.

DJI Mavic 3 Firmware Update

The Mavic 3 features a superb Hasselblad 4/3 CMOS camera, omnidirectional obstacle avoidance and a flight time of up to 46 minutes to deliver an unprecedented flight performance and content creation experience. The aircraft firmware can be updated to version 01.00.1300, while the RC-N1 remote controller can be updated to version 04.13.1100. If you use the DJI RC remote controller, you can update it to version 01.03.1000. Users of the DJI RC Pro remote control can instead update the firmware to version 03.02.0700. The DJI Fly application should also be updated to version v1.12.4.

Please note that camera settings will be reset after the firmware update, so check your camera settings in DJI Fly. If the update fails, restart the aircraft, remote controller, and DJI Fly or DJI Assistant 2 (Consumer Drone series) and try again.

Make a note of your preferred settings to readjust after the firmware update is complete.
