DJI Power 1000 Review
Drones and action cameras share a key characteristic: they are powered by rechargeable batteries. DJI, a leader in drones and action cameras, is using its extensive battery expertise to enter the competitive world of portable power stations.
DJI has introduced the DIJ Power 1000 in Italy. The unit is designed for ultra-quiet operation, can be fully charged in just 70 minutes, and features dual AC and USB-C outputs to meet a variety of charging needs. While the features of the power stations are impressive, there are a few features that will appeal exclusively to drone pilots.
DJI Power 1000 It features a new proprietary SDC (Smart DC) port that can quickly charge (some) DJI drone batteries and support numerous input and output accessories.
The power station is equipped with LFP batteries, which are safer and more durable (80% capacity after 3000 cycles) than traditional NMC batteries, and both offer a cutover of 0.02 seconds, making them suitable for use as UPS on unstable networks.
For the 1024Wh Power 1000, in addition to the DSC and DSC Lite ports, the other notable feature is the two USB-C ports that each support a maximum output (without input) of 140W, provided you use the right cable to connect a USB-C PD 3.1 device like a laptop. The AC outputs can produce up to 2400W in Europe, enough to power any device you might take with you on a road trip or camping trip.
The power station itself can be fully charged in just 70 minutes with its maximum input of 1200W, or it can be turned down to 600W with a switch on the front which also reduces the fan noise to 23dB (which is very quiet for a power station). It weighs 13kg.
DJI’s SDC ports support the “Power SDC Super Fast Charging function,” which provides up to 230W for Matrice 30 Series TB30 Intelligent Flight Batteries, 200W for Inspire 3 TB51 Intelligent Flight Batteries, 150W for Mavic 3 Intelligent Flight Batteries, and 125W for DJI Air 3 Intelligent Flight Batteries.
These capabilities make both models versatile tools for a variety of power needs, from everyday convenience to critical support in off-grid situations.
In particular, DJI has chosen the safe and durable LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) battery technology. These batteries offer up to 3,000 charging cycles.
