DJI SDR Transmission – The New Portable Dual-Mode Video Transmission System
DJI , a world leader in the development of creative imaging technologies, introduces the new video transmission system which will make the advanced Software Defined Radio (SDR) technology accessible to all . Designed for small and medium-sized film crews, the innovative DJI SDR Transmission provides more stability, greater resistance to interference and stronger penetration capabilities. For temporary monitoring of images on set, the system supports the simultaneous use of Wi-Fi transmission, providing more flexibility in workflow.
“From the beginning, we have intended our DJI PRO product line to be a complete and reliable ecosystem of drones, cameras, and creative tools for both professional videographers and creators as well as aspiring storytellers,” said Paul Pan, Senior Product Line Manager at DJI. “By listening closely to our users’ feedback, we have continued to expand our creative imaging technology offerings by actively focusing on what they need. Our new DJI SDR Transmission delivers image transmission performance equal to that of the most professional productions, but at a more accessible price point.”
High quality video images, with maximum stability
Using SDR technology, DJI SDR Transmission ensures extremely stable video image transmission even in complex shooting environments. On monitors, filmmakers will see 1080p/60fps video feeds, with a bit rate of up to 20 Mbps and a delay of just 35 milliseconds. Images can be transmitted up to 3 kilometers away. With powerful penetration capabilities, videos will remain stable even in complex shooting environments. If it encounters frequency signal interference, the system will automatically switch between the 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz, and DFS bands to find the optimal channel.
Easier collaboration with diverse monitoring methods
DJI SDR Transmission makes it easier for everyone on set to work together. It can output three SDR signals and two Wi-Fi signals at the same time. In Broadcast mode, you can connect an unlimited number of receivers, making it easier for multiple people to monitor. The receiver can be connected to monitors via SDI/HDMI, or to smartphones and tablets via USB-C or Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi option allows for a dual channel monitoring experience that is more cost effective as there is no need for a separate receiver.
Remote camera control for agile and innovative monitoring
Used with DJI RS series stabilizers, DJI SDR Transmission supports Force Mobile, joystick and virtual functions and re-centering of the stabilizer. When connected to a camera, it supports PTP control, displaying and adjusting aperture, shutter, ISO and even triggering photo or video shooting directly from the app. It also supports CEC control for Sony cameras, allowing for Mirror playback.
More efficient workflow and collaboration between DJI PRO and beyond
DJI SDR Transmission can transmit metadata, making it easier for team members to collaborate while shooting. When DJI SDR Transmission When connected to the DJI Ronin app in Broadcast mode, users can change camera settings directly in-app. Cameras such as ARRI and RED can be adapted via SDI, giving filmmakers, videographers and DIT teams real-time access and detailed shooting information.
Versatile power options
DJI SDR Transmission uses a standard PD protocol charger with USB-C power input. It can also directly power the DJI RS 4 Pro, DJI RS 4, or DJI RS 3 Pro when installed on them, eliminating the need for a separate battery. Both the transmitter and receiver are compatible with standard NP-F batteries.
Compact. Lightweight. Portable.
DJI SDR Transmission It is designed to travel with the crew. With a lightweight construction, a single transmitter or receiver weighs only 145g. The antenna folds down, making it easy to carry and store.
