DJI Avata 2 Preview
DJI presents DJI Avata 2 . The drone offers a fully immersive and safe FPV flight experience, an updated sensor for improved image quality, and greater flight autonomy.
“Less than two years ago, we helped popularize the out-of-body experience of FPV flight,” said Ferdinand Wolf, DJI Creative Director. “DJI Avata 2 builds on that experience and gives everyone the ability to fly like a pro with simplified aerobatics. We’re ready to offer users one of the best FPV experiences ever.”
DJI Avata 2 is designed to pair with the new DJI Goggles 3 and DJI RC Motion 3.
DJI Goggles 3 features adjustable diopters, two micro OLED screens that support 10-bit display, up to 100Hz refresh rate, and low-latency transmission. With binocular cameras that show the surrounding environment and can be overlaid on the drone’s live feed, pilots have complete situational awareness without having to remove the goggles. This technology, called True Picture-In-Picture View, enhances the immersive experience and safety.
ACRO made easy with DJI RC Motion 3
When used in conjunction with DJI RC Motion 3, new pilots can perform difficult aerial stunts with ease. With a simple movement of the joystick, spectacular shots can be taken while flying, diving, or rolling.
- 360 in one move: Add new twists to your footage with 360-degree flips forward and backward
- One-Move Roll: Create stunning shots with 360-degree roll left and right.
- 180° Drift in One Motion: Create high-impact visual effects with 180° sideways drifts at high speed.
Optimized image quality
Thanks to the larger image sensor than its predecessor, the 12MP super wide-angle camera with 1/1.3” CMOS expands the dynamic range and effectively handles low-light scenarios. The ultra wide-angle lens, with an angle of view of up to 155°, offers a unique perspective and close-up shots, distinguishing them from those of traditional drones. The camera enables immersive aerial HDR photos and videos up to 4K/60fps, as well as slow-motion footage at 2.7K/120fps. Additionally, thanks to the 10-bit D-Log M color mode, DJI Avata 2 can capture rich details in highlights and shadows, highlight them in post-production and simplify color grading.
Stability assured
Even during high-pressure aerial maneuvers, DJI Avata 2 keeps videos sharp and stable thanks to its algorithm and two cutting-edge stabilization technologies. DJI RockSteady reduces camera shake even during high-speed flights or in strong winds, while DJI HorizonSteady locks footage onto a level horizon even during sudden turns or strong oscillations. Additionally, when the EIS setting is not active, Avata 2 supports Gyroflow to further stabilize footage in post-production.
Total safety
The new integrated propeller guard of Avata 2 is lighter and allows for agile flights even in tight spaces.
Thanks to the lock button on the RC Motion 3, you can immediately stop the drone and manage any unexpected event with complete peace of mind. In addition, the Return to Home (RTH) function is automatically started when the drone's battery is low or in the event of signal loss, adding an additional level of safety.
The new binocular fisheye sensors enable low-altitude or indoor flights, improving flight stability and safety.
If the drone lands upside down, you can quickly right it thanks to the Turtle mode. When activated, this function automatically turns it upside down and returns it to the take-off position.
Longer flights for a limitless sky
Avata 2 boasts a maximum flight time of 23 minutes and supports PD fast charging to quickly recharge and take off. In addition, the new Two-Way Charging Station features an energy storage function that allows the transfer of remaining energy from multiple batteries to the one with the highest charge level. This way, it provides an “extra battery” in critical moments.
The new O4 video transmission offers a maximum distance of 13 km , a latency of only 24ms, a high-definition image quality of 1080p/100fps and a maximum bitrate of 60Mbps. The dual-transmitter, four-receiver and four-antenna design ensures high anti-interference performance and allows pilots to fully concentrate on flying without any additional worries.
Shared flights
Sharing FPV flights has become easier than ever. The live feed from DJI Goggles 3 can be viewed on the DJI Fly app and transmitted to another device up to 5 meters away. Additionally, you can use a cable to share it to a display or another Goggles 3 via “Audience” mode.
Simplified shooting and editing
Avata 2 comes with 46GB of internal memory, which can store approximately 90 minutes of video at 1080p/60fps, allowing you to capture the best parts of every flight. Thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, you can quickly transfer files to your smartphone, making post-editing and sharing your work extremely efficient.
Edit with one touch
When DJI Avata 2 is connected to the LightCut app via Wi-Fi, footage can be edited directly without having to download it to the app. Without having to download footage, the app also offers editing capabilities and, in combination with the One-Touch Edit function, allows you to produce polished content in an instant and effortlessly.
Greater compatibility
The new DJI Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3 are also available for Air 3 and Mini 4 Pro. Pilots with the Goggles 3 can also use traditional controllers, such as the RC 2 and RC-N2, to fly the drone.
