DJI announces FlyCart 30, its first operational long-distance delivery drone

‌DJI, world leader in the production of civil drones, announced the launch of FlyCart 30 (FC30) , a drone developed specifically to carry out dynamic aerial deliveries, a sector in which several companies are focusing, thanks to its long operating range , high reliability and intelligent features.‌

DESIGNED TO OPERATE OVER LONG DISTANCES

FC30 adopts a 4-axis , eight-bladed, multi-rotor coaxial configuration with carbon fiber propellers and can reach a maximum flight speed of 20 m/s. In dual battery configuration, it can carry a 30kg payload‌ up to 16km‌‌ . In its single-battery emergency configuration, the payload capacity increases to 40kg‌ for an operating distance of 8km . The dimensions of the interior of the expanded polypropylene (EPP) compartment are 573×416×306 mm (L×W×H).

The transmission, entrusted to the DJI O3 system , is able to maintain a stable connection between the drone and the remote controls up to 20 km away.‌ ‌The "Dual Operator" mode also allows you to quickly transfer control of the drone between two pilots in positions different.

FC30 has IP55 certified water resistance , can operate at temperatures between -20° and 45°C (-4° to 122°F) and can fly in winds up to 12 m/s (during takeoff and 'landing). ‌‌‌Standard propellers are optimized for altitudes between 0 and 6,000 m and support flight up to 3,000 m with a 30 kg payload.‌‌ Self-heating batteries allow optimal performance to be maintained even at low temperatures.‌‌

In Cargo mode , payloads are placed in a 70-liter compartment equipped with weight and center of gravity sensors to improve balance and safety.

In Winch mode , payloads are transported by a winch crane for delivery to areas without convenient landing sites.‌‌ The winch system includes a 20 m cable that can retract manually or automatically at 0.8 m/s it can carry up to 40 kg of weight.‌ AR projection helps positioning of cargo by indicating the intended landing point.‌ During flight, FC30 can intelligently adjust the flight attitude, automatically reducing load swing .

GREATER SAFETY

The built-in redundancies and intelligent safety functions of the FC30 help ensure safety during operations. Before take-off, in fact, the drone will evaluate the feasibility of flight routes based on environmental conditions and ensure pre-take-off safety through instructions audiovisual and delaying the start of the propellers. ‌‌

During flight, dual Phased Array active radar and binocular vision systems enable intelligent multi-directional obstacle detection in all weather conditions, day and night. The drone is equipped with an integrated ADS-B signal receiver capable of providing early warning of the presence of nearby manned aircraft. In case of an emergency, a built-in parachute will open and land the drone stably.

FC30 can be folded for easy transportation in a standard-sized vehicle.‌‌

TWO CONTROL SOFTWARE

There are two software used to control the FC30: DJI DeliveryHub and ‌DJI Pilot 2 . The former allows the drone to systematize aerial delivery with operations planning, monitor status, centrally manage team resources and collect data analytics. This software also allows real-time viewing via the high-resolution FPV stabilized camera.

Both DJI DeliveryHub and FC30 support integration with cloud platforms or external loads, allowing adaptation to a wide range of industry-specific applications.

The ‌DJI Pilot 2 software allows you to optimize manual flight and view live flight status and load status. This software, in the event of extreme weather conditions or other anomalies, will allow operators to be warned of possible risks by indicating alternative landing sites.

At the moment there is no information regarding prices and actual availability on the market.
