Delivery Drone ROI Demonstration – DJI FlyCart 30
The DJI FlyCart 30 delivery drone offers significant ROI benefits – user success stories prove it.
A selection of DJI Delivery case studies demonstrate the value and potential of using this heavy-lift air transport solution across a range of industry sectors – increasing efficiency, reducing costs and easily reaching areas that have traditionally been difficult to reach. reach.
In one example, the drone navigated mountainous terrain to help deliver 400 solar panels in one day, compared to 20 panels used with traditional, manual methods.
In a water transportation scenario, the DJI FlyCart 30 increased the speed of transporting supplies to ships, reducing delivery times from half an hour with transport boats to six minutes with drone, and reducing costs associated with equipment and refueling of boats.
The drone also allowed a team of search and rescue volunteers to transport vital medical equipment to the front line in less than five minutes, as part of practical exercises in a post-earthquake disaster scenario. Previous techniques took up to two hours.
These examples come from China, where the DJI FlyCart 30 was released in 2023, ahead of its global launch in January 2024.
This blog explores these user success stories in more detail and shows how the DJI FlyCart 30 – which can carry a 30kg payload for 18km and uses a cargo box or winch mechanism – can be useful for a series of applications.
DJI FlyCart 30 for water transportation and ship-to-shore delivery
The DJI FlyCart 30 increased efficiency and generated cost savings for Nanjing Changjiang Hui's anchor delivery business, which operates along the Yangtze River, a major inland waterway in China, spanning nine provinces and two cities .
Traditionally, the company has employed transport vessels to carry out the critical and demanding task of providing essential supply services to ships docked in Wuyuzhou.
But this meant:
- The team had to travel up to 10km to reach the anchorage, with a transport time of around half an hour.
- The cost of labor for each individual on board a ship is at least 100,000 RMB (equivalent to around 10,000 pounds) per year.
- The fuel consumption of each vessel is considerable.
However, the DJI FlyCart 30 revolutionizes this: it takes just six minutes to complete a round trip. This saves costs and improves efficiency.
Jiashan Ge, deputy general manager of Jiangsu Changjiang Hui Technology Co, Ltd, said: “The FlyCart 30 we are currently flying can fly 20 km with a payload of 20 kg. The last mile shipping service we support at Changjiang Hui has truly become a reality.”
During delivery, the team uses AR Projection and Route Recording features with the DJI Pilot 2: AR Projection assists in precise landing and unloading of cargo when using the winch system, while Route Recording allows the drone to automatically fly according to recorded flight plans, significantly reducing pilots' workload.
Ge added: “The DJI FlyCart 30 is a true innovation for the entire shipping industry.”
The DJI FlyCart 30 improves accessibility in hard-to-reach places
Southwest China has become an important region for the development of solar panels.
Workers at Anhui Zhongjin Transmissions and Transformation Engineering Co Ltd had to brave the rugged mountainous landscape, with slopes reaching up to 45°.
This makes transporting infrastructure, such as solar panels, challenging and labor-intensive. Using traditional manual labor, the team can only transport 15-20 PV panels per day.
However, the FlyCart 30 is well suited to solving the terrain issues the design encounters.
In comparison, the DJI FlyCart 30 can carry 180 to 400 pieces in a single day.
Additionally, there is no need for repeated takeoffs and landings during the loading and unloading process, as the FlyCart 30's winch system releases the load automatically upon landing.
“This greatly improves our transportation efficiency,” says Tao Hao, manager of the photovoltaic project in Nawei, Luodian.
The company benefited from the Dual Operator mode of the DJI RC Plus: when the drone flies beyond the line of sight of the first operator, the second can replace it, increasing operational safety and improving the distance of construction line flights.
Hao said: “Technology drives productivity, and the successful application of the DJI FlyCart 30 in our project is a perfect example of this.”
The DJI FlyCart 30 increases the efficiency of search and rescue
The Shenzhen Rescue Volunteers Federation, a self-trained rescue team, played a vital role in the 2023 Turkey earthquake relief efforts.
Recently, they incorporated the DJI FlyCart 30 into their earthquake relief exercises to speed up the delivery of crucial life-saving equipment to first responders.
The drone's assistance reduced delivery times from several hours to just 4-5 minutes, significantly increasing the efficiency of search and rescue operations in disaster-stricken areas. To find out more, watch the video below.
Revolutionizing mountain logistics in the world heritage site
Mount Huangshan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, attracts millions of visitors every year with its breathtaking natural beauty. However, supplying the hotels and shops at the top of the mountain with food, water and other essentials has been a monumental challenge.
Traditionally, porters had to carry these supplies up and down the mountain on their backs, a task that required time and physical effort.
The arrival of the FlyCart 30 has changed the game on Mount Huangshan, helping porters dramatically reduce the time and effort needed for deliveries.
A climb that once required hours of grueling work has been cut to 17 minutes. As of January 2024, the DJI FlyCart 30 has transported a total of 250 tons of cargo up and down the mountain, revolutionizing the logistics of this popular tourist destination. For more details, watch the video below.
Synthesis
These success stories demonstrate the tangible benefits of using the DJI FlyCart 30: increased efficiency, reduced costs and no impact of operations on physical geography.
For some, the FlyCart 30 is a solution that can be used immediately, while for others it offers an exciting preview of what can be achieved in the future.
The launch of the FlyCart 30 marks a new chapter in the drone industry and brings standardized drone delivery a step closer.
